1. the player on a baseball team who throws the ball for the batter to try and hit.
2. a person who pitches hay or straw.
3. a golf club with a metal head that slopes at a relatively flat angle, more than that of a mashie niblick, so as to give loft to the ball when it is hit. It is usually called a “number 7 iron.”
